Platelet Rich Plasma Hair Restoration Published January 31, 2022 @ 10:13am
Thinning and loss of hair is a problem for millions of Americans affecting men and women alike. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is a minimally invasive procedure that can help increase hair growth and density. PRP is a concentrated form of the essential nutrients and growth factors that can help stimulate inactive hair follicles into an active growth phase. PRP treatments consist of drawing your own blood, separating the nutrient rich layer by centrifuge and injecting it back into your scalp. Results are seen several months after treatment. At Tulsa Dermatology Clinic, we use the Selphyl® system which is engineered to create an even more potent form of PRP known as the Protein-rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM). This ultra-pure form of PRP provides the necessary scaffold to protect the platelets, allowing them to release their essential growth factors for a longer period of time. This means more hair growth than standard PRP preparations. Not all types of hair loss qualify for this treatment, and it does require an initial consultation to determine if patient is a good candidate. Pricing will be discussed at the time of evaluation. Please note that treatment will be performed at a later date after the consultation.
